Last year I fasted for 3 days, inspired by a friend who does the Ramadan every year. This year I will do a 7 days of intermittent fasting and experience what that feels like. I will start on Saturday 4 May 2019 and end on Friday 10 May 2019. But first, I need to set up the rules…
What is intermittent fasting?
It means that you are not eating for a period of time. There a different types of time schedules, like not eating for 24 hours once or twice a week. Or only eating for 4 hours during the day, like in the prehistoric age. On the internet I found a nice article (in Dutch) explaining about intermittent fasting and the benefits of it.
I will follow the 16/8 schedule: 8 hours of eating, 16 hours of fasting. Too be honest, this doesn’t sound very challenging compared to the fasting of last year, because now I can choose when the 8 hours start. Last year my eating time frame was very early in the morning and very late in the evening.

This year I will make it ‘easy’ for myself and choose a eating time frame from 12:00 till 20:00. This means I will only skip breakfast and I will still be able to join the social eating gatherings. Let’s see what the experiences will be.

Why are you doing this?
Life is about learning and experiencing new things. I want to feel and see what intermittent fasting can do for my body.
I want to appreciate food again and be more conscious about what kind of food goes into my body. And it’s a discipline challenge. If I can do this, I can do anything to change in my life.
Are you joining me in this intermittent fasting challenge?
I will keep a daily diary to keep track of my mood and to write down any revelations. I will share the results with you on the blog. See you in the next post!
