Recently with all the selfies, there are a lot of food selfies (if they would have arms and phones…). I am also guilty of making photos of my pretty food in a restaurant. Never at home though.. But why do I do that? I usually make photos to remember things for later, to keep a memory. So for me it’s remembering what I ate that day in a restaurant.
I think people share their food porn, because they want to say:
- “Mmm… the food is so good! Be jealous!”
- “I really had something good and you should enjoy it too with your eyes and imagination.”
- “I don’t have pretty selfies, so like my food selfie” (No, i’m kidding. Ofcourse your selfie is awesome)
Well, eating is part of your life and with all the easy social media sharing, you want to share everything of your life. So also the food I guess. Luckily there are no poo porn selfies yet. Or is there? I don’t want to Google..
Food is an experience
Recently with more digital sharing, people can share food experiences through social media, photos, videos. All those cooking Youtube shows or just people eating in front of the camera! In South-Korea there are famous eaters who eat a lot food in front of the camera and earn a lot of money with it. They call it MokBang (eating broadcast) and they stream their eating in front of a camera. The audience can give them Star balloons which can be exchanged for real money. With one sitting they can earn about 1000 dollar. How would that be?
- “Hi, what do you do for a living?”
- “I eat a lot of food in front of a camera”
- “Okay?…(OMG that’s is awesome, I want that too T.T)”
People like to watch other people eating:
1. They don’t need to eat the carbs and get fat, but can enjoy the food by watching the eating person.
2. If the watcher is also eating, it feels like they are eating together. (Forever alone..) Eating together is also a certain experience.
